Sunday is Coming
Well, I’ve taken a long blog break. Got a few things accomplished but not everything to which I aspired. Life just has a way of doing that, ya know?
I continue to love living in Flagler Beach. I have awesome neighbors to socialize with as well as the Flagler County Golden Gals, The Lunch Bunch, a Bunco group, and a writing group. Sometimes I have to take a day for just me, myself, and I. My door is almost always open- just get your reservations in. I already have a few family visits scheduled.

If you’re still on the younger side of life you may not have realized the older generation keeps the health industry in business. I’ve been to the general practitioner, the rheumatologist, the ENT doc, the ophthalmologist, and one ultrasound. Coming up are the dentist, back to the ENT, the dermatologist, another ultrasound, a mammogram, and a colonoscopy. Add to all of those the associated labs and medications. And I’m not even sick!

All of that was worked around other happenings. My next to oldest granddaughter got married! I spent a weekend near Savannah Georgia for the festivities. It was wonderful seeing family and friends, but bittersweet missing some beloved ones. The weather cooperated and they had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. So sweet seeing my oldest son “give away” one of his daughters and gain a son. Congratulations Wade and Macie!
Had a friend in a moving transition that stayed with me and kept furnishings here for about six weeks. That was interesting! We managed to get in some fun while maneuvering around furniture in every nook and cranny. Happy for her to settle in a beautiful new home.

Just when I thought my own home might be getting back in order my kitchen renovation started. So much for stability! At least the appliances are usable even if my pantry items are in a big tub for now. It will be worth the inconvenience once it’s done in a few more weeks.
Visits to the vet have been frequent too. My little fur baby Jazz is an old man now. He will be fifteen next month. He can barely see, his hearing is going, and arthritis has slowed him down. He walks into walls and glass doors and can’t get up or down from the couch or bed without help. He is experiencing some sundowners- sometimes just stares off into space or whines for no reason I can determine. The vet says his heart and lungs are good, so as long as he is not in pain I will keep him with me. But I know his time is coming.

The beach is awesome but sometimes you just want to sit by the pool. It turned out some local wildlife wanted to enjoy our pool too. Problem was, raccoons carry a parasite that can be deadly to humans. Although they are so cute, we did not want to share the pool with them. Pool was closed about four weeks while this fellow was caught. A few days later his pregnant girlfriend was nabbed too but I didn’t get a picture of her. They also brought along their friend Mr. Armadillo but he preferred digging holes in the grass outside the pool.

My memoir, People Like Us, is still in the submission process, and I’m in the beginning stages of something new! Not enough to even tease you with yet but it’s NOT family related. It’s a totally different direction for me; part psychological drama with dark Gothic scenes and a touch of paranormal overtones. With Mother’s Day coming up my published books make great gifts. All are available on Amazon. You know I love encouraging women writers and this new website is a jewel. Check out Suzy’s Books for books by and for women.

Not sure when I will be posting again. I still want to revamp the site and add some fresh material. I will leave you with these thoughts. The ocean is the best cure for whatever ails you, especially socially, emotionally, and spiritually. It reinforces my faith daily. Even when sadness or worries sneak in, looking out over the sea reminds me God is in control.

It is Saturday of Easter weekend. Although Jesus is silent about his whereabouts that Saturday, some scripture implies he visited the realm of the dead in spirit. A quick Google search will give you these references. What is important is that Sunday is coming! Take heart in this writing by Max Lucado, “For His reasons, God inserts a Saturday between our Fridays and Sundays. If today is one for you, be patient. As one who endured the silent Saturday wrote: “Be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord” (James 5:7 NKJV).”© Max Lucado, 2013 .
